You’ll need a large food processor to make this delicious and easy fresh cranberry orange sauce. I love mine and use it all the time for all kinds of different recipes.
Fresh, light, sweet and tangy are just a few tasty words to describe this delicious ruby red sauce. This Easy Fresh Cranberry Orange Sauce also has zero fat and it’s low in calories, making it a light side dish and a perfect addition to any holiday meal! Our family has been enjoying this cranberry sauce on ‘Turkey Day’ for about 12 years now and we think your family will love it too!
- 1 - 12 ounce bag of fresh cranberries
- 1 navel orange (peeled and seeded, with as much of the white pith removed as possible)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Place the cranberries, sugar and the peeled orange in a large food processor and grind until smooth. Scrap the sides and pulse to blend ingredients thoroughly.
- Pour the mixture into a bowl, cover and refrigerate a minimum of 4 hours or overnight. Stir, taste and add more sugar, if needed. That's it, super easy!
The cook time is actually the time needed to chill the cranberry sauce in the fridge.
The cranberry sauce will sweeten with time, so check the sweetness after it's been in the fridge for 4 hours or more. If you like your cranberry sauce a little sweeter, just add an additional tablespoon or two of sugar.
For chunkier cranberry sauce; Put ½ of the cranberries, the sugar and the orange into the food processor and grind until smooth. Then add the other ½ of the cranberries and pulse until desired texture.
Makes approximately 2½ - 3 cups
